Using proxy to bypass VPN that doesn't support torrent

Rate this question

Question

Forumx

I have Torguard VPN installed on a router set to Australia, i.e. no torrent. A PC connected to this router therefore cannot do torrenting. If I use proxy on a torrent client app on this PC, will that overcome the torrenting limitation?

I have tried configuring proxy on uTorrent and it only works when I turned off VPN. Once I turn on the VPN (AUS), torrent stops working. I can only assume that if your VPN doesn't support torrent, then a proxy will not bypass this limitation.

Hello

Yeah the limitation will still be there as the proxy is connecting through the VPN itself.

You could however, use policy based routing and only route what you need through vpn then use a proxy on this host.

Is it DD-WRT that you are running on your router ?

Regards
