Does seeding go through proxy too?

Question

Over at https://board.perfect-privacy.com/threads/utorrent-and-dht-through-proxy.103/one of the users writes that seeding goes around rather than through the proxy and that this is why one should always use a VPN.

This *seems* incorrect as far as I can tell, but I can't find any reliable sources that explicitly say it one way or the other.

Would like reliable confirmation as to what the truth is.

I am fairly certain that is specific problem with rTorrent. Seeding is done through the proxy with uTorrent and Flud if set up properly. Deluge has the options in settings but I haven't tested nor have I found any user reports of it's success.

When you say "if set-up properly", what do you mean exactly? is following the set-up guide for uTorrent on this site enough? I'm currently concerned that I'll have trouble seeding on a private tracker using the Sock5 Proxy from TorGuard.
