Stock firmware and open vpn

Rate this question

Hello, I'm going to be upgrading my router soon to one that is a bit more powerful so that I can max out my download/upload speeds. I'm currently using an asus rtn16 and if I'm lucky, I can get a max of 6 mb on my download. I know that the netgear and asus routers that TorGuard sells will help with that since they're much more powerful. If the VPN connection drops on the stock firmware, will it stop all traffic?
