Torrent General Question

Go to solution Solved by TorGuard Admin,

Hi, I'm new here after moving from BT Guard and I'm glad to say I like what I see so far. I would just like a bit of help understanding a few things.

  1. When using the TorGuard desktop app for Mac I see the list of countries and some have a green torrent symbol and some have gray. What does that actually mean because if I select a gray one it seems as though my uTorrent is still using the VPN.
  2. When I go to My Servers on the website, there is a column "Torrents Yes/No" - again does that mean my torrent  client would not use the VPN if i manually used one of these?

Sorry if they are stupid questions, but I would just like to be sure.

Thank you  :)

Hello and welcome to TorGuard... I would be happy to answer your questions:

1. VPN server locations in the app that have a green torrent symbol are optimized for bittorrent. If there is a grey icon that means the location is not optimized for bittorrent usage.

2. You can still use a non optimized location and all traffic will be routed through the VPN. The only difference is your bittorrent downloads may not perform as well as when running on a (green) optimized location.

Hope this answers your questions.
