Tablet/Mobile Apps cannot make connection through VPN

Rate this question

Question

ENTERPRISE

Hey all,

I recently setup my DD-WRT based router for OpenVPN which is working perfectly, however the one downside is that it seems my Apps on my phone and tablet are not able to make a connection to the net in order to pull data. This seems to be the case with Facebook,Youtube, Gmail, Hotmail etc.

If using the VPN using a PC or laptop then I have no issues browsing at all, but apps on mobile and tablets for whatever reason cannot make a connection, have I missed something ?

Thanks all.

No problem. I actually resolved the issue myself after much trial and Error, it would seem that mobile devices do not appreciate the UDP protocol, after I switched to TCP on my OpenVPN Config, all was fine :)

Ahh ok good stuff - some ISP's filter UDP connections, if not , 99% of the time its firewall related.
