Poor Proxy Performance

Question

Using FoxyProxy in Firefox set to "us-sa.secureconnect.me" on various ports and computers.
Getting lots of slow downs and sudden popups that the proxy is refusing connections.
Then it suddenly starts working again. I understand that the proxy IP changes but the recent performance causes loss of connection, pauses, and generally frustrating browsing and it's happening much more now than in the past.
I hope this gets fixed soon.
Anyone else seeing this recently?

Hello,

Are you using SSL based proxies and if so on which port? and if so have you tried the various ports we offer? https://torguard.net/network/ssl/

Do you have any security software?

Regards

I'm currently using:
HTTPS/SSL
us-sa.secureconnect.me
Port 282

Performance was much better when using  just an HTTP proxy IP address on port 6060. However, this no longer appears to be an option as it recently stopped working this way.

I have the same issue as well.

Proxies are not working at all. And on the rare occasion that they do, I also get the "Proxy is refusing connections".

I've been using this method

https://torguard.net/knowledgebase.php?action=displayarticle&id=157

This issue has started about 3 weeks ago. I've been with Torguard since 2017 and it was never this bad. Kinda regretting my recent renewal.

We switched off HTTP proxies and switched to SSL for security and to prevent abuse on our network https://torguard.net/network/ssl/

The guide to use those is here --> https://torguard.net/indexori.php?rp=/knowledgebase/277/How-To-Setup-TorGuard-HTTPS-Proxy-with-FoxyProxy-on-Firefox.html

We had to switch off due to abuse, HTTP is not secure and unfortunately for the most part used for abuse, attack external networks and mass scraping / spamming, activities that affect our network as a whole.

So I have to use an add-on for Firefox?

Another issue, I use the HTTP proxy with programs such as JDownloader, how can I use proxies with that app?

Hello,

When using SSL proxies, yes, either our extensions or foxy proxy which works fine.

JDdownloader supports HTTPS proxies, are you looking for a guide for it?

Thanks. I tried HTTPS with JDownloader and it seems to be working fine.

I just wish we didn't have to use an extension for Firefox but we move on...

proxies work with quite any software where you can set proxy, you should anyway use https proxy instead of http proxy, not sure why ms does not have a checkbox to use https for http.

You can use it the same way as you did if you use socks5.

Also, instead of writting just IP, you can normally use

username:[email protected]

No, HTTPS proxies do not work with Firefox's settings. You must use an extension.

I am using foxyproxy on firefox, not sure about firefox's integrated, foxyproxy is best available proxy for firefox, nothing beats it especially as you can control it pretty well with complex rules up to regex expressions.

and here results of whatismyipaddress.com:

foxyproxy on firefox worked for many years and still works. If you are using chrome based browser, then you should use torguard's extension, there foxyproxy sadly does not work the way it does on firefox.

Check your settings, you maybe use wrong port or old domain, like *.torguardvpnaccess.com, try instead *.secureconnect.me. Like mentioned before, it is just a proxy, any proxy client supporting basic authenticiation works, same should be valid for firefox's internal, but many are confused about it and do not know how it works, often by clicking around enable/disable/automatic to a value which then stops firefox from reaching any page not only internet. As you say it worked for years, I assume that you used authentification instead of autoconfigure url as well as that you use correct port (23,592,778,489, 282,993,465,7070).

foxyproxy has many advantages over torguard's extension, if you did not use it, you should for sure try it.

Now putting all that by side, here is OP's thread which clearly says it is about foxyproxy and not firefox's internal proxy settings:

Hope you still get your proxy to work ;)
