WireGuard on windows adds an additional profile each time i connect?

Yikes!

So I've begun toying around with the new addition - WireGuard.

After connecting to a few different servers and poking around I noticed that under network connections, each time i connect whether it be to the same server or a different server, it adds another network profile.

The ever growing list can be seen under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\NetworkList\Profiles.

This is going to be problematic,  imagine connecting daily or a few times a day over a span of time.

Add in the fact I painstakingly keep this clear and remove duplicate profiles with numbers added due to reinstallations that crop up from time to time.   In this case, not feasible to have to do so each time you connect.

I assume (hope) this is just a bug/oversight and isnt a necessary evil of the new technology?

I'd hate to be looking at "torguard-wg 277" a few weeks from now.

Since this is related to my issue, I'll add here rather than create a new thread.

The creation of another network profile every time I connect using Wireguard also messes up other applications.

I use a application launcher which also monitors the network connections, and it creates a new network statistics profile because of the 'new' network. This in turn adds monitor graphs to my launchbar, knocking off shortcut icons because it overflows the space available, and basically messes my desktop up.

It's a right pain in the backside, to the extent that I've now given up using Wireguard because I have to reconfigure my launchbar every time I connect.

This issue needs addressing ;)

OMG!  This is causing unnecessary congestion in the registry.

klepp0906 how do you know which profile to remove?  My list is really so long.  I might delete the active one which ofcourse I'm trying to avoid

you just click on each registry subkey under the profiles key and view the ProfileName string.   you'll have torguard-wg, torguard-wg1, torguard-wg2 etc.  remove the entire subkey for the ones appended with numbers.

support post below your's says its fixed so once those are cleared out should be all good.

Not fixed until the new client goes out.  just tested w/ 4.1, no bueno!
