Question

Hello,

As everyone knows of the Kaspersky issue by now, the following steps will resolve the problem it seems until they fix there end:

1. Disable Kaspersky product’s self-defense: https://support.kaspersky.com/14818
2. Open regedit (press Windows+R keys, type regedit and click OK, see https://support.kaspersky.com/common/diagnostics/8576#block2).
3. Go to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\kneps] key and create new DWORD parameter NoDefrag with value 1 (or just run kneps_no_dfg.reg file from attached archive).
4. Enable Kaspersky product’s self-defense back.
5. Restart PC in order to apply changes.
6. Run TorGuard application, establish VPN connection and check if the problem is reproduced.

Please let us know if this works for you with no issues.

Are you sure you have followed the instructions to the letter? I have applied the fix on August and never had an issue since then.

Hello dear Admin

I followed your instructions and it worked perfectly.
I even got the feeling that the connection works faster then before. 😋

Thanks for the fix and your hard work.

The attached file seems to not be downloadable. The attachment in the post says "unavailable" and clicking it leads to an error page. Possibly a permissions issue.

So far this fix has worked for 19 hours without issue. I am using the latest TAP driver v9.24.2 and Kaspersky 20.0.14.1805(k), and previously I was using the NDIS5 TAP 9.9.2_3 fix.

It would be nice if kaspersky said what this does, the only thing I found is "nodefrag" was recommended to people having issues with steam voice 2 year ago, I can only make a possible guess it has to do with IP fragmentation https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IP_fragmentation , but no idea if it actually does or what side effects it has on kaspersky's ability to protect.

Is this issue fixed by Kaspersky by now or not yet? Because I installed TorGuard's last version for Windows 10, v 2004 and the internet has no connection after few minutes of TorGuard's connected.

HI everyone,

Is it me or the issue just restarted again?

Since i used the provided fix solution everything was working perfectly, but i think my kasperksy updated and now i can't use the VPN anymore while my KIS is on, i tried to run the same steps to fix this but the issue remains, any ideas or am i the only one with this problem?

Thank you!

Nevermind, i installed the lastest version of torguard and everythings works now.

Thank you

Wow! It looks like it solved my issue.

I was connecting to servers but after a few secs I was with no internet, and disconnecting from the servers didn't solve the problem ad Windows was not able to switch back to the default network interface correctly, ending still with no internet again.

Now everything works! Thanks very much!!

Hello there!

We are in October now and I can't see if the latest update has this fix.

Lets say that it is fixed. Should I do anything, restore my settings as before (may it is better to do so?), or should I be fine like this now?

Thank you.

I think @PIRATA! is correct Kaspersky Released a fix awhile ago,

If i remember correctly Kaspersky was having an issue with the TAP driver, I experienced the TAP driver issues and i remember one of the solutions was to simply use a different TAP driver version , so for example when installing torguard it lets you choose which version of TAP to choose from i think it gives 2-3 options so uninstall your current one and try different versions.

That was the fix for me i am using Kaspersky internet security New 2021 version - 21.2.16.590b - changing TAP versions instantly fixed for me. As mentioned though This was supposed to be fixed months ago so maybe you are experiencing something different.

What are the symptoms of the problem what exactly is happening?
