HideAndGoSeek 0
I set up proxy settings in Firefox on Linux (and Windows 10) as per these instructions: https://torguard.net/blog/how-to-setup-an-anonymous-proxy-with-firefox-or-internet-explorer/ After restarting Firefox it asked for my Torguard credentials, but all the "What's my IP address" checkers still show my real ISP IP address. Shouldn't it show the proxy? If so, what other tests can I try?
0 HideAndGoSeek 0
OK, I solved this. The instruction page is out of date with current Firefox and IE/Edge settings. https://torguard.net/blog/how-to-setup-an-anonymous-proxy-with-firefox-or-internet-explorer/ The instructions for Firefox show the unselected checkBox "Use this proxy server for all protocols" (SSL, FTP, SOCKS) but current versions of Firefox show "Also use this proxy for FTP and HTTPS". With that selected, the proxy does work. IE instructions are also wrong. The proxy settings have moved from Connections/Setup to Connections/LAN Settings. The Edge settings have a System tab, which then shows "Open your computer's proxy settings".
