TorGuard Viscosity Update Issue

Rate this question

Question

Guest

I'm having trouble updating to the newest viscosity update provided. I managed to install the update after a few code 5 errors; but when I attempt to make a connection I'm being told the background service isn't running.

Any workarounds for this? I tried a clean install with no luck and changing account privileges. Thank you! The old version still works by the way.

Installed new file from site on Windows XP. Did it twice by doing fresh installs. Can't get list of connections. I am not running Malawarebytes. Virus program is Avast. Never had this issue before and don't want to manually import the config files. I note there is an option to import from server. Is there one that can be reached to do this?

Um... Any suggestions? Short of going into the Registry and deleting all the references to Torguard or Viscosity, I'm at a dead end :-(

I am being facetious. I completely uninstalled, manually deleted the virtual adapters, ran ccleaner, reset the TCP/IP stack and rebooted. Re-installed... still does not work (see above).

Another update that breaks our connection? I would recommend a notification on the site or something. Doing yet *another* support ticket. Jeez.

I'll give it another shot without AV running and "clean install" with the "updated" software.

Does not work for me (Panda AV)> It has something to do with the "route gateway is not reachable on any active network adapters" error. UNINSTALLING & RE-INSTALLING DOES NOT WORK. It DOES NOT fix the problem!

Have you tried to disable Panda AV and any other security software to isolate the problem ?

Was there another update? I got a message from Torgard this morning about active connections or something. Now, when I try to reconnect, I don't get the usual list of servers. Sigh. I wish I could go a week without Torgard Viscosity breaking or causing me grief.

^^^^Same issue here. The pop-up message asks for you to install a connection update, but when you say "yes" to disconnection and application nothing happens. Program doesn't update, and version number stays the same. ... aaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrggggghhhh! I submitted a ticket regarding this just a minute ago, too.

Hello

This can happen if security software are blocking our update server:

1) Disable all features of security software, AV's and Firewalls.

2) Uninstall Viscosity

3) Reinstall Viscosity from our downloads page here torguard.net/downloads.php while security software is still disabled.

4) Re-enable Security software but make sure our app is whitelisted and torguard.net is whitelisted.

Connection profiles should now show and work fine!

Regards

I've just about had it with Viscosity. This will be the 4th or 5th time I've had to "uninstall/reinstall". Ludicrous. I have *no* *other* *software* on my box that has been this much trouble, including the microsoft apps. If there's no other way to connect, I'm going to cancel this account and go with someone else.

Had the updating problem as well. Here are the steps that I took to successfully upgrade to the latest version.

-download latest Viscosity version from TG website

-Backup any customized connection profiles

-Disable Antivirus before uninstalling.

-uninstall Viscosity

-run CCleaner to clean out registry

-reboot computer

-disable AV again

-install Viscosity (requires your license file)

-import connection profiles

-turn Antivirus back on

-check for updates via Viscosity and install

It is also worth mentioning that the latest version I found in the My Downloads section on the TG site was 1.0.0 1044. Once this was installed I could "patch" up to the 1046 version without any issues.

Hope this helps anyone else having this problem.

Also, why do replies to this thread generate 4 duplicate email messages telling me there has been a reply to this thread?
