Don't understand LAN Bypass

I read in a review that TG can deactivate when the device is operating on a secure (password protected) LAN. That is, TG can be set to only operate on public, open networks such as in airports or coffee shops. I have assumed that the LAN bypass feature does this. Am I correct, or do I have this all wrong?

Hello Peter

LAN Bypass is specific to Android devices where it will allow you to access LAN resources such as a printer or NAS within the network you are connected to as this is blocked by default -  it may not be a good idea to have this checked while on a public Wifi though.
